Hey Lou Hotel Nördlingen

Breakfast had quite a good spread, with plenty of options. Check-in and checkout were almost self-service, but someone was there to help if needed.

The room problem was the main issue. We were a group of four and had accidentally booked a Family Room for one person. Since we couldn’t change the guest count, we booked another Family Room so there’d be enough space. Staff told us adding guests to the first room would cost as much as booking an entire second Family Room. But they wouldn’t let us arrange that second booking at the front desk, so we had to use another platform. In the end, three of us stayed in one Family Room. The other Family Room, which we had booked and paid for, was changed to a Twin Room, with no explanation or compensation. Staff said, “Since you’re staying alone, one room is enough.” I found that unacceptable. We paid for a Family Room, and the number of people using it shouldn’t change the room type we reserved. Even if it was booked for one person, the hotel should provide the room confirmed and paid for. I hope you’ll reconsider and recognize this as a failure to provide what was promised. The receptionist on Friday evening, a woman wearing glasses, was also extremely rude and dismissive. She spoke in a condescending tone and acted as if she didn’t take us seriously. I did wonder whether her attitude might have been racially motivated, though I can’t say that for certain. I never expected this kind of treatment in Germany. She was the reason I left my review. She waved her hand to mean “come here” or “go away,” which felt rude and dismissive. From the start, she gave one-sided explanations, wouldn’t listen to our concerns, and made no effort to understand our situation. If I sounded harsh, it was only in response to being treated with such disregard and disrespect. The pillow cover was stained, and the room was freezing, so it was very hard to rest. I strongly don’t recommend this hotel. For the same price, you can find much better accommodation where guests are treated with basic respect and fairness. Added 🚨🚨 Thank you for responding, but I need to correct several points you raised.

The reception was completely unwelcoming. When we arrived, the receptionist looked at us as if we’d killed her children. The place also felt cold, sterile, unfriendly, and neither quiet nor peaceful. I wish I could give it zero stars. The rooms are tiny, with plastic chairs, and looked like something from a primary school. On a double bed we were given just one small pillow. It’s outside the city walls, yet cost much more than the hotels inside them. Don’t be taken in by the pictures: it’s next to a supermarket and cafe, and the parking isn’t private. If you’re worried about leaving your car overnight, this isn’t the place. For a stay in Nordlingen, try Hotel Klösterle instead. We had a much better experience there.

I was very happy with everything. The staff were really helpful, and the location is convenient, close to both a supermarket and the historic old city.
