Hotel Restaurant Spa Torkel

The menu changes every week, and the kitchen makes such good use of seasonal and local ingredients. The dishes are beautifully presented and delicious, and the service is attentive and friendly. I’ve eaten here many times, and every visit has felt special. The restaurant rating is mine, but with the same management, the hotel must be awesome too. 🫶🏻

Our one inconvenience was the lack of Wifi in the bedroom. Otherwise, we were very comfortable. It’s a family-run place with lovely bathroom and spa products, a nice pool, sauna, and whirlpool. The dining rooms looked lovely inside and outdoors, and the half-board meals were well prepared and good quality. Breakfast was a pleasure, with freshly-pressed orange juice, Sekt, a nice buffet, and eggs and pancakes made fresh. The bread was delicious, and the wine list was good. We drank 5 different bottles, though some of the wines we chose weren’t available. The location is convenient for both the train station and port.

We had a fantastic bottle of Lanz Riesling, and the extensive wine list is mostly local. Breakfast was continental, with the nice option of sitting on the terrace in good weather. The laundry service was super fast, same day. Our deluxe room was spacious, clean, and had the basic amenities I’d expect in a 4*. We stayed 8 nights with our large dog, who was welcome throughout the hotel except in the restaurant, which is fair enough. We were half board but ate here only once, since I’m local and wanted to go out with family and friends. The meal was good, though at times it felt like they were trying too hard, and basics like seasoning the soup were missed. Service was good, if a little stiff and contrived now and then. For the prices, there’s room to improve, and I’d expect a bar open every evening for hotel guests. I’d love to give 5 stars, but can’t quite.

The hot tub on our room terrace was perfect, and we had the best two nights. It’s a warm, beautiful hotel with a well equipped gym, friendly staff, and great food at both breakfast and dinner.
