a&o Nuernberg Hauptbahnhof

Getting around was easy thanks to the location of a&o Hostel Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof, very close to the central station and within walking distance of the old town. The common areas were well maintained, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Everything felt organized and secure, and the staff stayed friendly, helpful, and patient even when it was busy. It’s good value for the price and a solid place whether you’re traveling solo, with friends, or just need somewhere convenient in Nürnberg. I had a really good stay and would happily come back and recommend it.

The room was nice and clean, and breakfast was plentiful, fresh, and delicious. Our room faced the main street and was a bit noisy, but the view was nice if you enjoy people watching, so I didn’t take off a star. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. I’d definitely stay here again.

The beds were awful and the blankets dirty, even though the hostel itself was pretty good. The staff were the worst, truly unprofessional and a total jerk. One staff guy was pissed off, ignored me, and even tried to keep my €20 deposit instead of giving it back. Highly not recommended. Spend €10 more and stay at an airB&B.

I picked this hostel because it was near the train station, but checking in by yourself was tedious. The card reader on the machine didn’t work at first, and when I entered one digit wrong I had to delete the whole number rather than just that digit. It took several tries; I’d much rather have checked in with a receptionist. The room was very clean, but the bed setup felt iffy. There’s no reason for two single beds to be so close unless you’re with a friend. I was glad nobody slept in the bed next to mine. The windows weren’t soundproof at all, either. Cars, trams, and other traffic could be heard all night, with zero effort made to block the noise. I appreciated having a toilet in the room, but it was disastrous to use because there was barely any space. Also, a girl arrived at 23:00 while I was asleep and turned on the room lights. The hostel can’t be blamed for her actions, but guests arriving after 22:00 should know to be quiet and not switch on the big lights. Maybe signs asking people to be considerate would help.
