City Apartment in Nürnberg

Getting around by public transport was easy, with restaurants and supermarkets close by. Parking was more of a gamble, since most nearby spaces require permits and you have to find one that's both available and unrestricted. The apartments are being renovated, so quality seems to vary. Our bathroom was new and nicely done, though setting the shower temperature was tricky. The kitchen had just been fitted, but the decorating wasn't finished, and the separate toilet was still clearly a work in progress. There seemed to be plenty left to do before these can be nice apartments. The flat sleeps four, but there were only plates and other kitchen items for three, which happened to be enough for us. More generally, the kitchen was missing some basics. The Wi-Fi was a bit slow, and the login setup was strange. The router connection is open and unsecured, then you have to enter a username and password to get online. Some devices disconnected after a while, so we had to put the details in again. Doing that 5-10 times a day over several days got frustrating.

For the price, it was good value, with a clean, spacious room in a quiet neighborhood and public transport nearby. There was no air conditioning, but that's understandable in a building this old.

The biggest concern was the loose flooring in the hallway by the bedroom door. It needs urgent attention because it could be a safety issue. Although the kitchen and bathroom were reasonable, the layout wasn't really two bedrooms. It was one bedroom plus a living room with two single beds. The living room curtains let in a lot of streetlight all night, and with the traffic noise, it was hard to sleep there. The building is in the middle of major renovation work, and even though our apartment looked like it had been redone, some parts let it down.

Our booking was canceled on the morning we were due to check in because the same room had been double-booked. Staff tried to find us another room, but it didn't work out and caused a lot of unpleasantness during our trip. Please improve how bookings are managed.
