INVITE Hotel an der Kaiserburg

Getting into town is easy from here: the metro is nearby, and the center or main station takes about 10 minutes to reach. The rooms were spotless, so housekeeping deserves full credit. But the building and furniture feel very dated, as if they haven't been renovated in years. At €18, breakfast seemed overpriced for the usual sandwiches, yogurt, and scrambled eggs. Comfort was poor too. I was glad I had earplugs: ventilation from the next room was audible, balcony neighbors were loud with the balconies facing each other, and the room got very hot with no proper temperature control. Prices felt too high for such an old hotel. For the same money, I'd have preferred an Ibis if one had been available. The location and cleanliness are the strong points; I'd stay only if location mattered most and there were no better options.

Check-out was the worst part of the stay. The Saturday reservation clerk, a woman named K., came across as arrogant and unhelpful, and her colleague had to take over her unprofessional manner so we could leave. The rooms we booked were clean, but the space felt unwelcoming and poorly thought out. The bed was unexpectedly small and uncomfortable, and the amenities were very basic for the price. Breakfast was included, but the quality was mediocre and there was nothing that made us want a second morning of it. For €250 a night, there are better places nearby with more comfort and better service, so I can't recommend this hotel.

The breakfast room staff were very nice, though reception was less pleasant. Some people there occasionally seemed to make an effort, but that's about all. Our room was basic and dated, with some mold on the shower grout. The location is good, under a 15-minute walk from the old town. Just an okay hotel.

The bed was amazingly comfortable, and the room was fine for a night on the way home or on holiday. You can walk to the historic center, and breakfast is simple but good. The bathroom could use some attention. We left our luggage safely in the car in the underground garage.
