Ramada by Wyndham Nuernberg Parkhotel

The location is a real plus: close to a park, not far from the city, and within walking distance of Nürnberg Messe, which is handy for business trips. Parking was easy, and the bar team were very friendly and helpful. The reception staff were polite and apologetic during the situation. The hotel is relatively old but generally maintained. The biggest problem was room 344. There was visible mold in a ceiling corner and clear moisture damage. I reported it and asked to move, but was first told there were no other rooms. After that, there was no proper follow-up or solution during our stay. The reception staff apologized repeatedly and even said they knew about the problem in that room. I sincerely hope it was limited to room 344. After we left, the hotel wrote to say it was lichen, not mold. We couldn't verify that then, or know whether anything had been removed or repaired. Given what we'd seen and the moisture damage, that explanation seemed highly questionable. The complaint handling was poor too. For three days, apparently no manager was available, and no manager replied to our email. That's unacceptable when guests report a serious hygiene concern. They offered just 10 percent compensation, presented almost as if we should be grateful. That felt completely inadequate given the issue and how it was handled. The room also had no ceiling light, only three lamps for ambient lighting, so it was poorly lit and impractical. Breakfast was identical every day. The wellness area didn't seem properly managed: there were no sauna sheets, and no clear rules seemed to be enforced. The main restaurant serves a mix of cuisines, but the quality doesn't justify the prices. With IWA, our room cost more than EUR 400 per night. At that rate, I'd expect comfort, hygiene, and professional handling of complaints. This stay was nowhere near that value. I read other online reviews that seemed to describe mold-related problems in rooms too. If so, relevant public health authorities should properly investigate, especially for a four-star hotel. There are good points here, namely the location, convenient parking, and friendly bar and reception teams, but the room problem, absence of management, and inadequate response made for a very poor experience. I don't usually leave negative reviews when a genuine effort is made to resolve an issue. I travel often and have been around the world, but was genuinely surprised by the dismissive way we were treated. I hope the hotel takes this feedback to heart.
