Seminaris Hotel Nürnberg

Getting into our third room took until 7.20, and then we went down for dinner as a group. The meal was awful. The beef broth starter was unusual, not terrible but not good either. The bird dish was dry and disgusting, with a ball of dry dough and cabbage that tasted questionable. Hardly anyone in our group finished. Dessert, a creme brûlée, was edible but nothing special. We arrived at Hotel Seminaris at 6.45 pm after travelling all day, with only about half an hour to get ready before dinner, and our room wasn’t ready. We’d been given keys, but the beds had been slept in and the room hadn’t been made up. Reception gave us a different room, but it smelled strongly of sewage, as if someone had just used the loo. While my friend waited at reception, she heard a couple of other guests complain about smelly rooms too. I went back down in the slow lift to ask for another room. They eventually gave us one, and the receptionist came up to check it. The room didn’t smell, but neither his master key nor our key would open the door, so he had to get a key from the cleaners. I went back to collect my bags from the smelly room, but the key had stopped working there too. Luckily the receptionist was still on that floor, and I waved him over. He let me in and agreed that it smelled. After sleeping, we got up at 6am to shower. There was only one towel, and the phone didn’t work when I tried to call reception. We eventually figured out the shower, though there were no instructions for using it, and the room lighting was terribly dim. We’re not people who usually complain, but one thing after another happened, with barely an apology. It was beyond frustrating, and I’d never recommend this place.
