The setting and surroundings are lovely, and climbing the watchtower and hiking around are well worth it. The restaurant, though, felt unwelcoming and a bit sketchy. The person who greeted us wasn't very friendly or helpful about the menu. Our tasty hot chocolates were only half a cup for 3.50€, which felt small for the price, and a slice of Cheesecake cost 9.50€ without even tasting like proper Käsekuchen.

I ran over from Hotel 3 Könige along the trails, mostly the red diamond route, then went back the same way. After climbing the tower, I had an Orangenschorle before heading down to Oberwolfach. I also stopped at the spring coming from a dragon's head by the access road. The water was delicious. Such a lovely restaurant in a gorgeous spot. I hope I can stay overnight someday.

The views are beautiful and the trails are well maintained. Rooms are neat, the food is delicious and fairly priced, and the service was both friendly and quick. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Brandenkopf has a real sense of history. There's regional food and beer at the hut, and climbing the tower is worth it for the view.
