Harzhaus Schneewittchen

We could reach the Harz sights and other attractions quickly from Sorge, which sits right in the middle of the mountains. Our ground-floor apartment was charming and so cozy, with stylish furnishings and lovely little details. We had everything we needed, too :)

It’s wonderfully quiet here, almost right beside the warm Bode river, and several hiking routes begin close by. One leads to the Ring of Remembrance and the former inner-German border fortifications, now a museum. The holiday home has a fenced garden and is very well equipped for a small family, with a cot and highchair provided. Shops are a few kilometers away in Braunlage.

We’re leaving tomorrow, and I wish we could stay longer. The owners are lovely, and the apartment is furnished so thoughtfully that we felt almost at home. I also liked that the old house has been renovated without losing its character. You can set off on plenty of hikes right from Sorge. They may be less spectacular than the famous Harz highlights, but most of the time we had the open countryside to ourselves. That takes a particular taste, but it’s just right if you’re after peace and quiet.

The Harz Narrow Gauge Railway adds to the lovely view from this holiday home. There’s a pasture behind the house with a little stream running along it, and the apartments are nicely equipped.
