AHORN Panorama Hotel Oberhof

The Easter egg hunt and bonfire were the highlights for the kids, and my child especially loved the kids’ menu. We joined in all the activities and had a wonderful time. There were plenty of things planned for children, including an indoor play area and Kino, with a swimming pool and nearby forest trails for hiking too. Breakfast was nice, but we chose the dinner buffet and found the menu was almost the same each day, with few vegetarian options. Altogether, it made for a lovely family break.

The reception staff were friendly when we checked in and out. The hotel has useful facilities for families with young children, and breakfast and dinner were okay, if not especially good. Staff in the restaurant and children’s areas didn’t make the same impression. Our room also needed a better clean, and the doors didn’t close properly. It’s worth the price, as long as you don’t expect too much.

We had to ask reception for fresh towels because our rooms weren’t cleaned at all during the four days we stayed. The bar service was slow, and the rooms were cramped, especially the bathroom. The whole hotel feels run down and smells like an old closet, probably because of the dirty wall-to-wall carpet.

Muhammad at reception was especially helpful and friendly, and answered all our questions. We stayed during the Biathlon World Cup and found the rooms comfortable, with the room cleaned every day. The restaurant food was tasty and well balanced. It was also nice to have a gym, sauna, and swimming pool, a welcome way to recover after the competitions in bad weather. I hope we can stay here again next year.
