Hotel garni Kappeler-Haus

Breakfast was incredible, with fresh meats, cheeses, fruit, and breads. We booked for a weekend of hiking and really liked the hotel. Our cozy room had a comfortable bed, a couch to relax on, and a balcony where I could sit outside for a smoke or two and enjoy the mountain views and cold air. I'd highly recommend staying here.

We spent a whole week here in February 2026 and had a wonderful holiday in Oberstdorf. The location is perfect, with many restaurants close by, the thermal baths within walking distance, and the ski jump an easy walk through town. It's about 15 minutes on foot from the train station, or you can take the local bus. There's ski storage, plenty of parking, and a swimming pool for summer. The staff are well trained, friendly, attentive, and accommodating. Breakfast was very good, and the rooms were clean, comfortable, newly renovated, and well maintained. Excellent value for money. The hotel is a little dated but very well kept, quiet, and good value. Its location is excellent: the large south-facing balcony has an open mountain view, and the center is a short walk away. In the off-season, the few free spaces out front were enough for us. We could also lock our bicycles in the garage. Breakfast was freshly prepared, though the selection was a bit small with so few guests. We did mind having to ask staff each time for coffee or tea, since there was no coffee machine or hot water dispenser. Even so, we'd recommend this hotel.

The location of Kappeler Haus is perfect for walking around town. The spa gardens, cinema, market square, and Nebelhorn cable car are just steps away, and we left the car parked until it was time to go home. Parking was a little tight but fine. We wanted a quiet stay and appreciated the stated rule that children under 12 weren't allowed, though that rule wasn't followed. We were still happy and satisfied. Our clean, lovely room had a church and Nebenhorn mountain view, and there was a bottle of water waiting for us. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The centrally located guesthouse is also peaceful, and you can get virtually anywhere on foot. The spacious lower-level breakfast room had everything, with access through the terrace to the garden and pool. The garden wasn't especially inviting, with quite a few fallen leaves on the ground beneath the surrounding trees.
