Hotel Haus Keuthen

Breakfast was the highlight, though the amount of food left over was hard to ignore. They put everything on the table without asking whether we wanted water or orange juice, and there was far too much for two people. For a vegetarian, all the meat was especially unnecessary. You're not allowed to take leftovers away, supposedly because of composting, but food seems less wasteful when people eat it. It left me wondering whether composting was really the only reason, since surely plenty is left at every table. The room itself was fine and comfortable. The old German house has a charming, vintage feel.

Breakfast was a real surprise: cheese and cold cuts on tiered stands, homemade starters, fresh pastries and good coffee. There was so much that two people couldn't finish it. Even though we were the only overnight guests, every table was set aside for breakfast guests, so it seems a great breakfast spot for the Olsberg/Brilon area. We enjoyed our stay, thanks! The house is old and probably had its heyday last century, but our renovated room was lovely, with comfortable beds and a nice bathroom. The private sauna cost €80, which felt too steep, so we skipped it.

Getting to Eschenberg and Winterberg was quick and easy from here. The rooms were clean and comfortable, just what we needed. The woman at reception and the friendly breakfast and kitchen staff made us feel welcome. We'll be back! 👍🏻😃

The owners were very friendly, and breakfast was really good. The hotel itself is showing its age, though. The entrance feels oppressively dark, and our room was quite dated too.
