October is a beautiful time to see this area. The autumn colours are fantastic and can surely compete with New England's. We first came back after six years and wondered why we'd waited so long. Our room was spacious, and the fresh carpeting in it and the corridor still smelled new. We chose half pension, and the food was fantastic. It arrived at a considered pace, so don't come expecting fast food. Good food takes time to prepare and serve. The staff were professional, and the way the Pfannes family runs the Schinkenwirt could teach UK establishments a lot about treating customers. We'll be back, hopefully sooner this time.

The rooms were clean, the food was good, and there was a sauna too. Add the lovely location and friendly staff, and I can't think of anything else I'd want. Highly recommended.

The staff were incredibly patient, even with the kids running around. We've been twice for family dinners and had great service and food both times. I'd go again!

The food was great, and I rarely come across service staff who are this attentive. Highly recommended!
