Parkhotel Wörlitz

The room was very spacious, and the bed was incredibly comfortable, probably the best I’ve slept in at a hotel. There’s a large corner bathtub for showering. This is an old-time hotel being restored bit by bit. Breakfast is very simple, and a few things were missing: a hotel guide in the room, a friendly welcome, and a bottle of water. The sauna was out of order.

It was a lovely little break. The hotel is close to Wörlitz Park, with free parking in the shade. The landlord was very friendly and warned us about the parking meter and the risk of a ticket when we arrived. Our room faced away from the sunny side, which was lucky in the heat. Breakfast was a short walk away at the next hotel, but that was no trouble, and the breakfast itself was good even with lots of guests. Oddly, I hadn’t heard or seen anyone else staying in our hotel. The mattresses were quite soft, which some people may like and others may not. The nearly white armchairs, probably Ikea, were comfortable, but the covers could really have been washed. A few coat hooks would help, since wet clothes are hard to hang in the closet when it rains. A small fridge would also have been useful in that heat.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and parking was free. Breakfast was very inexpensive and perfectly fine. It’s an older hotel, with the charm of the last millennium showing through now and then; the beds were comfortable and I have no real complaints about the room. It was unbearably hot, though, and the rooms had heated up. Air conditioning would be welcome, even if I know it isn’t cheap. Some insects came in to see who was living there whenever we opened the window, so fly screens would help.

The staff were helpful and friendly, and the rooms were both spacious and very clean. Breakfast was excellent despite the low occupancy, with plenty of tasty food. We’ll definitely stay here again when we’re in the area.
