Garbe Wirtshaus

I often take visitors there, including friends and business contacts from Dubai and Italy, because it gives them a good introduction to local Swabian food. Even my Italian guests, who can be quite picky, have loved their meals. Wirtshaus Garbe leaves a strong impression and represents the region so well. The beer garden adds to the experience, and inside it’s cozy, lively, and welcoming. To me, this is one of Stuttgart’s best places for traditional Swabian cooking. Dishes like Maultaschen, Linsen mit Spätzle, and Zwiebelrostbraten feel authentic and true to the region.

You can even have your beer in a stone mug. There’s plenty of good seating indoors and outside, and the food and service are always excellent.

The food arrived on time and tasted great, and the beer was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We had an authentic German dinner with friends who were visiting, in a pleasant, appealing restaurant near the edge of University of Hoehenheim. It was full on a Wednesday evening, so I’d book ahead. The outdoor beer garden opens in May. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We especially like spending time in the biergarten. The menu has a good selection of regional dishes, and the quality is good. The family room is stylish, well equipped, and spacious enough. It’s a charming place, though the busy road nearby is a downside. Recommended.
