Hotel Astro

The rooms were quite large and enjoyable. Sadly, the TV is just an ordinary old television, despite claiming to be smart, with only a wireless cast function.

The location was a real plus, but the room stayed so warm that I was sweating all night. The air conditioning didn’t seem to do anything, and that made my impression of the hotel worse. Breakfast also felt pretty expensive for an ordinary German spread.

I wouldn’t stay again. The room had poor lighting, the TV didn’t work properly, and the pillow I had wasn’t comfortable. I probably could have used another one. During the heat wave I left the window ajar, but housekeeping closed it. One day my room wasn’t cleaned at all, which was frustrating. I didn’t feel well enough to deal with reception, so I let it go. I also got conflicting information about payment. At check-in I was told my card had already been charged and nothing was due, but at checkout the story was different. If I’ve been charged twice, I won’t be happy. For a solo traveller it was an okay value, though still quite expensive. I also don’t think it deserves the four-star rating it claims. I tried to use self check-in and was told I wasn’t allowed to. What’s the point of having it, then?

The bathroom felt really upscale, and the mattress and comforter were the best I’ve had. The air conditioning was also the best I’ve experienced so far in Germany. Everything was exceptionally clean, and the hotel felt nice and cosy. Frau Reynolds at reception was especially courteous and always smiling.
