A-ROSA Kurhaus Binz

The breakfast buffet was a real highlight, with lots of variety and good preparation. The breakfast staff were friendly and attentive, and even remembered how I take my coffee. We also enjoyed the terrace for meals and drinks. It was clean and nicely arranged, and the staff there were always smiling and helpful. We spent 10 days at the historic Travel Charme Kurhaus Binz, right in front of the large, clean, well-kept beach on Rügen Island in the Binz area. The rooms were spacious and maintained well, though the beds creaked and the bedding and pillows could have been softer and newer. Reception was efficient, but some staff didn’t speak English, which made things harder for international visitors. They weren’t always friendly either, and that can shape a first impression. My experience with staff elsewhere in the hotel was very good. The SPA team deserve a mention. Their English wasn’t great, but they were so attentive that communication went smoothly. I had three excellent massages, so don’t miss them.

The room was comfortable and very clean, and breakfast had plenty of tasty choices. I had a great stay and would come back, probably with my own water bottle next time ;) What brought the rating down was the service for small requests. After walking from the station in the heat, I found my room wasn’t ready and asked for water. I was told bottles were only given as a leaving “present.” At checkout, the same person handed one over only after I asked, as if it were something valuable. It’s a small thing, and I don’t really care about the bottle, but at 300 euro per night I don’t expect awkward moments like that. The receptionist didn’t greet me or say goodbye either. A little more social training could make the atmosphere much more pleasant. The staff were polite, but some didn’t meet what I’d expect at that price.

I’ve stayed here a few times and keep enjoying it. The rooms are comfortable, the hotel is lovely, and both the breakfast and evening meals are great. The piano bar is wonderful too. I haven’t been during high season, though, and can imagine it gets overrun in summer.

A guest by the pool told me, “Everything about this hotel is a dream,” and we completely agree. The staff were friendly and capable throughout, especially Michael Herud in the restaurant, who always made us feel welcome. We hadn’t planned to book a room with a bathtub because we thought all the rooms had one. The reception staff quickly found us a different room that did, then arranged to move our luggage as well.
