Hotel Binzer Hof

The staff were friendly, and the rooms were spotless, though a bit small. It's a comfortable hotel, just 5 mns from the seafront.

A lovely meal in a nice place. The food was great, and the waiters were friendly.

The breakfast room is nicely furnished, but the meal itself feels pretty basic: pre-baked rolls, unlabeled food, no vegan choices or alternative to cow’s milk. There’s also nowhere to throw away tea bags or wrappers, and the buffet aisle is so tight that two people can’t stand there comfortably. My room was spacious but dated and worn. The bathroom looked modern, though it was so small I had to leave the door open to use the hairdryer. Noise was a problem throughout: I could hear ordinary conversations from the neighbors, cars going to and from the holiday apartments across the street, and demolition work with a jackhammer at or inside the hotel on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. I’d arrived the weekend before Easter and hadn’t been told about the work when booking. The reception desk was empty when I arrived, and staff made no effort to help with the disruption. Many things seem well meant, but poorly done. I can’t recommend the hotel.

We ended up leaving a night early, even though the location was a real plus. The room was clean, but the breakfast felt overpriced for its limited selection. We also found the hotel very noisy: footsteps overhead, slamming doors, and even other guests’ toilets flushing came through clearly. Our Classic room was old and hadn’t been renovated, unlike the impression we got from the website. When we raised it at reception, the employee was rude and unhelpful, saying the issue was known. We were told no other room was available because there was no clean linen, then asked to try again the next day. The next day brought the same answer, that the linen still hadn’t arrived and they’d have to check later. We were also told all Classic rooms were apparently in this older, unmodernized condition. A renovated room would have cost extra, with no goodwill offer, so we canceled our final night. It’s hard to understand why the website doesn’t say clearly that some rooms haven’t been updated. At the end, they did offer a partial discount as a goodwill gesture.
