Hotel Deutsches Haus

The meal itself was good, both in portion size and quality, and the price felt right. We waited more than an hour and a half for it, though. After 45 minutes I politely asked about the delay, but got weak excuses and was repeatedly told to wait, with no clear explanation. If something is going wrong in the kitchen, please just tell customers honestly. The snack bar is in a nice spot by the harbor and works on a self-service basis: order and pay at the fish counter. Even with the wait, I’d eat here again, though I hope the staff communicate better next time.

The harbor view was great, and the location worked well. The beach is around a 15-minute walk away. But the rooms are very dated and not clean, with dust and spider webs everywhere, and no soap at all. The WiFi and TV were unreliable, too. The kitchen had enough equipment apart from the pots and pans, and cooking took a long time. Outside, the view was of the restaurant’s drink crates, and one apartment had bulky waste beside the terrace. We had to move the patio furniture out ourselves. For what you get, it was far too expensive. We just picked up the keys from a key box.

The room service deserves a special mention. The room was spotless, and the staff were especially lovely with the children, joking with them and calling them by name. They even had children's cutlery set out at meals. We spent five wonderful days here as a family. Our family room had a sitting area, with stairs up to the sleeping area. The hotel is right by the harbor, with a fantastic view while eating. We had half board and could choose three courses from the menu each evening. The food was fresh, home-style, and delicious, with plenty of choice. There are lots of places to go nearby, and the beach is a 10-minute walk. The parking lot was about 100 meters away, which was no problem for us. Thanks for a lovely stay, we’ll definitely be back.

We weren’t staying at the hotel, but politely asked if they had a table for two. They found us one, even though the place was full. The zander fillet and steak were both delicious, and the server was careful about the mask requirement 👍🏻. Highly recommend the restaurant. We’ll be back.
