The hotel has plenty more to offer, though I didn't have time to try it all. The rooms are big, stylish, and nice, and the service was friendly and helpful. There are good restaurants too. It's right in the forest, away from traffic, the city, and civilization. The mobile phone signal is very poor.

Passing by recently brought back the memory of a very disappointing Christmas dinner last year. I don't want to repeat that experience. The dining room, usually cozy, was quite full, and a larger group was seated in a separate room. There hadn't been more staff brought in. We ordered at 6:30 p.m., but after asking several times, our food only came after 9:00. One person was talked out of canceling their order with a promise it would arrive right away, then waited another 15 minutes. My pork tenderloin was so undercooked that I sent it back. It came back cooked through but dry, after an even longer wait. Everyone else had finished, so at first I refused the plate. The junior manager offered a discount, which was symbolic since a few euros weren't my concern. At payment, though, the owner charged the full price. I later spoke to the owner away from the other guests. The conversation got heated, and they were uncooperative and showed no understanding of our complaints. A very bad experience. There are plenty of other places nearby that seem to put their guests first.

The meals were a highlight, from breakfast and dinner to the cake served during the day. At the end of March, we had a wonderful weekend at the Waldsägmühle. It's a great base for hikes, and the spa area is beautifully done and perfect for unwinding afterward. We'll definitely return.
