The homemade beer sauce adds a sweet taste to the pork in the classic Selbstgemachte Maultaschen. They’re German-style dumplings, though not wrapped, and the meat is full of spices. Hotel Klostergarten has a relaxing place to eat indoors or outside. Inside, there’s a warm, traditional German wooden interior; in summer, sitting under the Cigar tree outdoors is a nice option.

The rooms were spotless, warm and cozy, and the hotel is right in the center of the little town. It’s close to the bus stop and several bakeries where you can get breakfast. The restaurant serves typical German dishes made with quality ingredients, and the food was really yummy. Staff were friendly, attentive and nice. A great choice for eating and sleeping!

The restaurant serves the best traditional German food and beer in town, with exceptional service. I stayed here for a week on business in June 2023, and the restaurant and hotel manager checked me in and was very friendly. Everyone spoke good English and didn’t laugh at my bad German. The place has history going back to the 1600s, and I’d choose it over a chain hotel any time. Rooms are spartan, but larger than any travel hotel I’ve stayed in in Frankfurt or Berlin, and they’re cleaned daily. There’s free underground parking and good free WiFi. No free breakfast, but a fantastic local bakery is a three-minute walk away, and the hotel has morning coffee. I’d recommend it to anyone coming to the area who wants a simple place to stay.

I gave it one star for the friendly staff. The breakfast selection was scarce, the WiFi didn’t work despite trying several tickets and three different devices, there was mold in the room, and the bed was super uncomfortable.
