The attic apartment had a decent amount of space, but that was about the only good thing. What we found didn’t match the pictures online. The sofa and bathtub should both be thrown out. Allowing dogs doesn’t make that acceptable. The beds were worn out and creaked badly, and some warped windows had been screwed shut. You couldn’t open the bathroom window because it apparently wouldn’t close again. There was a bad smell throughout the house. The wooden furniture could have been nice, but it was stained, worn and clearly hadn’t been looked after. Garden access was promised, but only on paper. At this price, the offer is outrageous.

The place needs a serious renovation, which is a shame because the apartment itself is nice. The furniture was badly worn, the beds squeaked, and the little sofa was ruined, with springs poking through in the children’s room. One faucet leaked heavily. We were greeted warmly, and the apartment was clean and looked like the photos, so at first we were happy with it. Then the heat became unbearable. The old windows had no insulation or sunshades and were hard or impossible to open. Curtains only covered the lower part of the apartment, while the sun came straight into the upper gable bedroom from sunrise. In last night’s storm, the living room windows blew open and rain came in. We thought they might get ripped out. It was a nightmare. Any complaints seem to meet the landlady’s friendly arrogance. The price was far too high, too. I can’t recommend it.

The location is fantastic, with mountain views and easy access to Salzburg, Königssee and Austria. But inside, the smell was awful, like a veterinary clinic, and the old mattresses sagged so much you could feel every metal spring. The stained, smeared chairs and couch in the living room were almost disgusting. The place is quaint, and the kitchen has Grandma’s old dishes, but the rest of the kitchen equipment was there. The listing mentioned a sauna, but when we asked about using it in the bad weather, we were told it was packed full of things. We couldn’t use it. We’re not demanding people, but I want others to know what to expect. You save up for a holiday hoping to feel comfortable and sleep well, not feel disgusted by the furniture. The owners earn plenty each week but invest nothing in furniture or mattresses. It’s sad, and we felt completely taken advantage of. Not everyone can afford a holiday these days. In my opinion, owners shouldn’t just collect the money; they should put some into their homes.

We’ve stayed at Haus Schloßblick three times and were warmly welcomed every time. Everything went smoothly, and both apartments we tried were spotlessly clean and very well cared for. We had the attic apartment first, then stayed on the ground floor twice. That one even had its own garden. The style is a matter of taste, of course. If you only feel at home with IKEA, this probably isn’t the place for you. The owner’s garden is a dream. There are two dogs living here, so it’s only fair for our own dogs to be a little restrained, and the lovely garden shouldn’t be used as a dog toilet. Just go out the front door and about 50 steps farther there’s a field for a quick toilet break. The house, apartment, garden and landlady all get our recommendation, five stars.

I agree completely with Ms. Ilmberger. We stayed in the ground-floor apartment, which had a small fenced private garden. It was very clean and brilliantly located for getting to Salzburg and Berchtesgaden. We had a large dog with us, so of course we vacuumed now and then.
