Best Western Hotel Am Strassberger Tor

The room was spacious and well equipped, and there were plenty of parking spots in the garage or on the street. The hotel is conveniently located, with a nice breakfast and a good lounge where we enjoyed an evening drink. I accidentally left something in my room when checking out, but it was mailed back to me in good condition. I had a very pleasant stay, and the service was excellent.

I’d definitely recommend this hotel, probably the best choice in Plauen from the three I’ve stayed in. The room was very nice, with a large bed and space to work, even though it was a single-person room. Breakfast was great, with a much bigger choice than at other Plauen hotels. I’d suggest adding espresso alongside the filtered coffee, since I drink coffee every day. I took off a star because my room wasn’t cleaned on 02.05. I left for work after breakfast at 7 am, and nothing had been cleaned when I returned. I checked out the next day, 03.05, and it felt as if the hotel hadn’t bothered to clean it.

Everything else was good, but I slept very badly over four nights. Both times I stayed here, I was given a street-facing room, and the cars got very loud from around 5:30-6 am. I asked to change rooms twice and was refused. The second time, I was told the only other room would cost €45 more, bringing it to €135.

The restaurant food was delicious, and the room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, so I can highly recommend the hotel. One small downside if you have a stroller: getting from the underground parking into the hotel means dealing with a few stairs, though there’s an elevator after that. Plauen is quite a nice city too :)
