Dormero Hotel Plauen

The rooms are big and really clean, and I’d strongly recommend staying here for a few days. At first glance, the hotel seems too old, but that’s just how it looks. The reception area is very dark, and I think updating it, or giving it a bit more character, could make a better first impression. I don’t mean changing the place itself.

Better avoid this hotel. It isn’t reliable. We lost an hour from our 14-hour drive, then had to drive another two hours to find a hotel in Dresden and check in at 3 am. At 10:30 pm, while we were driving along the motorway, I booked two rooms last minute with payment on arrival. I called to say we were coming, and the hotel gave me the night entrance code and promised to leave the keys in the door. We got there at 11:30 pm, unloaded all our luggage and the kids, and went in, but there were no keys. The emergency number left at the hotel didn’t answer, despite at least ten calls. We also called the central number. They said they’d get hold of the receptionists, but nobody called back or answered, and nobody came. After another 30 minutes of trying, we packed everything back into the car.

They kept reception open a little longer so we could still check in, and took time to connect with our dog, which is difficult and takes patience. The staff were very friendly. I’d definitely recommend the place, and I’ll stay here whenever I travel in the area.

We spent a weekend here and it was more than pleasant. The rooms were spacious and clean, and both the service and breakfast were excellent. Thanks so much for the hospitality!
