INSELHOTEL Potsdam - Hermannswerder

Really good breakfast and helpful staff. The place is very nice, with a very good standard and a sauna by the lake.

The hotel's interior and setup are a little dated, though they serve their purpose. The location is interesting for a visit to Potsdam, but the quick water taxi connection to the city center no longer runs. Be ready to cycle or take a car to get off this little island.

The view is wonderful, and the place itself is amazing, with nice staff and very friendly managers. It's a bit far if you don't have a proper car. There's a bus station, but you still have to walk from there.

We booked the Suite Maisonette, and the layout worked well for us. The entry floor had a small bathroom, closet, and bedroom, plus a long balcony facing the front of the hotel. Upstairs were the living room and main bathroom, along with a huge balcony overlooking the lake, forest, and outdoor pool. My daughter, who's 9, slept on the living room sofa. I sometimes slept there with her too, and it was big enough for two. We ended up here as a last-minute Plan B when Berlin's coronavirus numbers shot up and it became a hotspot overnight. The hotel is secluded on an island in Potsdam, and being away from the center suited us because we wanted to limit contact with people. It wasn't fully booked, and they had safety measures in place. We had to reserve the indoor pool and spa because of capacity limits, and one morning we had the whole indoor pool to ourselves. I also enjoyed the spa on the water behind the hotel, with its amazing views. There was a huge variety at breakfast. The stay was wonderful despite the corona restrictions.
