Hotel Merkur

I really enjoyed my stay and hope to come back soon. The hotel has a warm, welcoming feel, and the staff are so attentive they make you feel like family.

The dinner menu was a real highlight during my three months at the Merkur. I never had a meal I didn't enjoy, and plenty of them were almost too good to stop eating. The bar was another favorite spot for a drink or some food while watching soccer or F1. Breakfast was great too, and my room was well equipped and comfortable. Even being away from home for so long, I never felt out of place. The staff were amazing, knew the area well, and gave excellent suggestions for things to see and do. Thank you to Gerrit, Sonja, Johannes, Henning, and Gabriel for the kindness, conversation, friendship, and hospitality. I look forward to staying with them again.

What made my stay at The Merkur was the staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful, greeted me by name several times, and got me what I needed right away. The rooms were clean and well appointed, and both the bar and breakfast were great. It's also hard to beat the location for Ramstein or Landstuhl, with the RAB gate six minutes away and the A6 right next door. The one drawback for me was the typical hard European bed, rather than a softer mattress. I still think this is definitely the place to stay.

Breakfast was good, and the small restaurant served a generous amount. The bar had outdoor seating, though smoking was allowed inside. The location near Ramstein Airbase was great, and I'd stay again. Our junior suite worked nicely for four, but the front desk couldn't give us a bedroom key so we could have privacy from the kids in the anteroom. That was frustrating. I also don't love Germany's limit of four people to a room, since my family has five and adjoining rooms are rarely available. That's difficult with little kids.
