The breakfast was excellent, with lots of choices, and the surroundings were lovely. But the hotel as a whole doesn’t feel like a four-star place. My room was dark and not quite clean, with cobwebs in the corners. The service also fell short for me, as the staff weren’t very polite or friendly. Would I return? Probably not.

Booking is easy, just two emails, and they’ve handled my late-night arrivals perfectly every time. There’s always been a little note in English explaining what to do. They have a real feel for good service, so I highly recommend it to anyone travelling for work who needs a high standard of care. I always enjoy coming back to this hotel.

The restaurant is excellent, and the location is convenient and quiet. Still, I found it too expensive. The room had a very unusual layout, and the strong smell of smoke was quite disappointing.

Sundays at Café Tausendschön can get very busy, especially with people coming in from outside for breakfast, so at peak times we had to wait for a table. The breakfast buffet itself has a wide range of food and drinks, and the coffee and beverage bar, with fruit and cookies, is open to guests all day. Töpferhof feels like a place where you can unwind. Everything is decorated with care.
