The hotel was clean and breakfast was fine, but the room was too hot and we couldn’t adjust the thermostat. We picked it because it cost less and was meant to be near a big Christmas market. It wasn’t terribly far from the market, restaurants, or public transport, but the street felt dirty and covered in graffiti, with homeless people sleeping outside. It reminded me of downtown St. Louis, where I’m from, and didn’t feel nice, especially at night. If price is your main concern, you might be interested. I’d pay more next time to stay nearer Marienplatz, where the streets feel like a fairytale.

The place was clean and in a very good location, but the shower left water all over the bathroom floor. It stayed wet throughout our three-day stay, which I really didn’t like. The bathroom looks lovely and spacious when you first walk in, but a few things need changing. There wasn’t any water or minibar in the room either.

We were there during Oktoberfest, the busiest time of year, and ended up sleeping really well. Our triple room was on the fifth floor facing the street, but with the windows shut we couldn’t hear anything. It was modern and clean, had different pillows, and even a card offering different bedding if what was there felt too warm. The bathroom was roomy, and the shower head was high enough for taller people. No fridge, but we didn’t need one, and the tea and coffee were enough for our three days. The hotel is a short walk from Old Town, about a kilometer from Oktoberfest and the railway station. There are lots of homeless people in Munich near the hotel. Our tap and go card payment didn’t work at check-in, so insert a debit card into the machine. Staff were very friendly. I knew from my research that room cleaning needs to be requested because the hotel has a green policy to reduce water and power use. That suited us, since we could sleep in without being disturbed. We’d stay here again if we come back to Munich.

Main Munich sights are walkable, and HB is about a 15-minute walk away. The rooms were clean, though a little worn, and breakfast was nice. A good choice for a short stay.
