The payment problem has been especially disappointing. Reception blocked the room price on our card three times, then charged the full amount again at checkout rather than using the funds already blocked. More than 3,400 euros has been taken from our card. We told the hotel right away and contacted customer support. They said they’d get back to us on April 7th, but it’s now April 14th with no reply or update. We left two weeks ago. We stayed for six days. The building is historic, elegant, and distinctive, with a strong sense of tradition. Our room was comfortable and looked onto the street. Breakfast was generally very good and used high-quality products, though I wished there were more vegetables. The sauna arrangements also felt unusual to us. Men walked around completely naked not just in the sauna but in the shared areas too, which made us uncomfortable.

The hotel’s location is great, and the rooms have lovely natural wood and warm tones. Breakfast was superb, and the staff were very good. Atelier is a 2 Michelin star restaurant, and if you can afford it, it’s absolutely worth it. Trader Vics was awful for food, and the staff weren’t very good either. The Rooftop Bar was uncomfortable because staff seemed to use their power to keep guests out. Mylene was particularly unhelpful. She refused us an empty table, even though there were many, saying they were reserved for 30 mins later, despite there being no reserve signs. We explained we just wanted a quick pre-dinner cocktail and would leave within 20mins. She then said the “ghost reservations” were arriving in 20mins and still wouldn’t let us in. It felt unnecessary and unhelpful.

We felt safe in the area at all times, and could walk to everything we wanted to see and all our tour meeting spots in 15 minutes. The location couldn’t have worked better. The breakfast was a highlight, with lovely presentation and a beautiful, simple dining room. The staff made us feel special, and everything was 5 stars and then some. We truly felt like royalty. This is the only place I’ll stay when I visit Munich again. Worth the splurge!

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful historic hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive, and there were lots of amenities and things to do. The rooftop bar had the perfect views for a nightcap. Within a few blocks you can reach dining spots, cafes, trolleys, shopping, a bier hall, and even a theatre.

We could walk to plenty of shops, restaurants, and museums from this hotel, so the location suited us perfectly. Breakfast was great, and the service was good throughout.
