Felix even helped us out with detergent and milk, which was especially kind since everything was shut for the Whit Monday holiday. We were cycling along the Elbe and found Gasthaus “Goldener Löwe” a really comfortable place to stop for the night. The room was roomy, and having a washing machine was a welcome extra. There’s secure bike storage and plenty of tools for small repairs, too. We arrived after regular hotel hours, but the self check-in directions were clear and easy. We also opted for breakfast and were happy with the generous spread. It’s a great fit for cyclists, though other travelers passing through the Riesa area would find it a good stop as well. We’d happily recommend it.

We’re riding the Elbe route and stopped here to eat. The food was really good, and everyone was so welcoming. Wish we had time to stay longer.

The apartment was on the third floor with no lift, and nobody offered to help with my suitcase. Once inside, the kitchen equipment seemed makeshift, the cabinets were sticky and dirty, and the refrigerator had a strange film on it. There was hair on the bathroom floor, and the place smelled of mold and moths. The squeaky floors might have had some charm if not for that smell. The decor looked like it had been stuck in the 1950s. I had booked a Ferienwohnung, but what I found didn’t feel like one. The attractive photos gave a very different impression from the actual place, and some rooms were locked. The owner was rude and dismissive. I left and changed accommodation as soon as I saw the mess. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I’ve been touring Germany by bike for nearly two months, and this guesthouse gave me the warmest welcome I’ve had anywhere. It’s run by a lovely family, with lots of food to choose from and such caring service that I felt right at home. If you’re passing through Riesa or taking a break on a tour, I’d absolutely recommend staying here. Thank you, Felix and Melody. ❤️

We were in town for a sports event and hoped to find a nice breakfast spot. The little hotel looked attractive and well cared for from the outside, but it was closed at 9 in the morning. I’d never seen a hotel closed then before.
