Apartment Roxheim

We were only there for one night, and the apartment itself was very clean. But the wall film beneath one of the cupboards was loose and badly rippled, and the kitchen was missing things the website listed, including a coffee machine, microwave, toaster and several pieces of cutlery. Getting there was confusing because the address on the website led us to the wrong place. The welcome was warm, then after we paid we were basically left to figure things out. The apartment introduction was just a quick comment about the nice pictures and handing over the key. The TV and internet didn't work. When we asked about the new street name, we got no reply. Contact was only briefly possible on WhatsApp before stopping altogether, with just voicemail after that. It left us feeling that payment was all that mattered. Very bad hosts.

We had a good time, though there were a few problems with reception. The apartment was spacious and had plenty of equipment, and the terrace would be nicer to use in summer. The town itself isn't very interesting, but it's in a lovely region. The area across the Rhine is better, though getting there means taking a ferry.

There are two holiday apartments in the house. The upper one felt rather bare and a bit neglected. Someone had left a partly used bottle of wine and a can of whipped cream in the fridge, presumably from the previous tenant. It did have a coffee maker and dishwasher, with tablets included. Downstairs, the apartment is nicely furnished, though there's no dishwasher. Some of the dishes also seemed mismatched and incomplete.

The old exterior walls are poorly insulated, and the rooms get very cold. Even with the heating turned all the way up for 24 hours, they still didn't reach 20°C. I wouldn't recommend it in winter.
