Hotel Bavaria

It’s a decent hotel near Leipzig, and a convenient base for exploring the area by car. The room was comfortable, and breakfast was very good. My one issue was the wall-to-wall carpet, which wasn’t very clean and doesn’t seem practical anyway. I’d recommend the place.

There were so many insects in the room that we couldn’t sleep, so we left that same evening after booking for one night. The hotel replied that they would refund us, but almost three weeks after booking, we still haven’t received anything.

We enjoyed the peaceful setting and the friendly mix of staff, locals, and regulars. It’s in a small town that seems to be a shipping and transport hub, near a shopping outlet and grocery store, and wasn’t overrun with tourists. The desk staff were nice too, especially the tall, well-dressed gentleman working at 20:30 at the end of 13.05. After a run of bad hotels, this was a great stop. Breakfast was the best we had anywhere during our fifteen-day trip: quality meats and cheeses, great sausage, and, oddly enough, delicious honey packets and little jars of jelly. We had dinner there as well, and it was delicious, clean, and well prepared. The menu had a good range, from schnitzel and curry to lamb goulash, salmon, and roast pork. They also accommodated my meal for sensitive health issues, which I really appreciated.

The breakfast was great, but the rooms got quite hot because there was no AC. Our family had rooms on both sides of the hallway, so late in the evening we could cool things down a bit by opening our own windows and doors. The double beds were small too. If I’d known, I would’ve chosen two single beds for better sleep.
