The easiest parts were collecting the key from the safe and being able to reschedule our stay. Beyond that, I can’t recommend this place. The rooms were badly furnished, with cobwebs all over, especially in the corners. The shower curtain was much too long and moldy at the bottom. The so-called fridge was a camping fridge that could barely fit two cartons of milk, if even that. In one room, water ran down the very damp wall behind the bed, and even the baseboard was starting to pull away. Sorry, folks, that’s why it gets one star.

Mr. Aldib at reception was wonderfully friendly and clearly cared about his guests. He alone gets five stars from me. The bathrooms were old, with shower curtains, but clean. The rest of the house looked like a worn-out old guesthouse that a crew had hastily painted over. They didn’t mask anything off, and blue paint was splattered across the outside too. You could sleep there for a night, but we won’t return. We’d booked another property run by the same company and got moved here with a strange excuse. We suspect the main building was overbooked and guests were shifted into the company’s less popular places. That’s only our guess, though. We were told our original house had suddenly become uninhabitable, yet there were hardly any other guests here besides us, when it should have been full. It’s passable in a pinch, but not what you picture for a vacation.

We booked two single rooms for two nights, and the cleaning was poor in both. In one, the bed was made and the bin emptied, and an extra towel had been left in the bathroom for some reason. The filthy bath mat was still there and the used cup hadn’t been washed. In the other room, all they did was empty the bin. The run-down house had neglected grounds and carelessly furnished rooms. Dead flies were probably still in the entrance behind the umbrella stand. We didn’t see anyone at all, perhaps that was just as well. Never again!

I arrived at 8:30 on Sunday hoping to get breakfast in town, but the only bakery didn’t start serving until 9:00 and turned me away, even though hotel guests were already eating there. I hadn’t realized breakfast wasn’t included. Check-in itself was through a safe on the outside wall. In the room, the mini-fridge had no power cord, and there was just one outlet in the bedroom and one in the bathroom.
