Hotel Zur Loreley

We enjoyed the hotel's location and the balcony. The hosts were friendly, the room was very clean and had everything we needed, and breakfast was plentiful.

The proprietor was really helpful with ideas for things to do nearby. It's a quaint, charming hotel in a lovely spot on the Rhine, and our room was spacious and comfortable.

Stefan was thoughtful and sent useful information about the hotel and area before we arrived. We appreciated the personal touches, like asking what bread we preferred at breakfast and keeping our stroller downstairs in reception so there'd be more room. Breakfast was filling with plenty of choice, and they even provided a baby chair for our 9 months old, who enjoyed eating with us. The room was tidy and clean, the bed comfortable, and there was a kettle we didn't end up using. The large TV was a nice touch too, though we spent little time in the room. Our first-floor room had no real view. Both windows gave us enough air, but they looked straight into the neighboring building, almost close enough to touch. It felt claustrophobic, so we stayed outside as much as we could. I understand why we got that room, since the others meant climbing more of the narrow stairs with a baby, but I think this should be mentioned when booking. It didn't feel representative of the price we paid. The hotel dates back to 1920, so its charm comes with drawbacks. There's no hotel parking, though paid and free options are nearby. It's helpful that you can drive up to load and unload luggage. I'd gladly recommend staying here if you can overlook the downsides, which were a bit specific to our situation.

Breakfast was a real highlight. The staff made scrambled eggs to my preference, along with fresh rolls and delicious coffee. The hotel restaurant wasn't open, but there were a couple of places to eat nearby, including Zur Krone. The location was ideal for my hiking trip, just steps from the train station and an easy walk from the trail ends. My room had a soft bed with fluffy pillows, a desk, and a spotless bathroom. Everything, including the shower, worked perfectly. WiFi worked too, although it disconnected at times. I liked having a self-service minibar in reception. The staff greeted me warmly as soon as I arrived, and the stay at Hotel zur Loreley was a perfect break on my trip. I'd stay at Hotel Zurich Loreley again next time I'm in this charming region.
