Alpenloge Hotel

Three nights just wasn’t enough. The hotel’s restaurant and guest-only spa were both well worth trying: Mark, the head chef and a fellow Brit, oversees superb food, and my Ayurvedic massage was so relaxing I had to keep myself from falling asleep. Our spacious, chic room, No. 8, looked out over the valley. The owners have made the place stylish and welcoming, and the setting is spectacular, with Alpine walks starting at the door and Bodensee lake not far away. The whole stay was sensational. I’d book again in a heartbeat.

The snow-covered mountain view from Room #7 was incredible, and there was even a fireplace right beside the bed. We spent three nights at Alpenloge in January for our honeymoon after traveling from NYC. We arrived during a snowstorm, but Michael and his team had dinner ready and helped us get settled. They’d also arranged a taxi from the train station. Over the next three days we had delicious breakfasts, Hugo by the fire in the evenings, sauna and steam in the afternoons, winter walks, and lunch in Scheffau after a quick bus ride. Michael and Anja were lovely, kind, and helpful, and every design detail felt impeccable. The other guests were lovely too. It was the highlight of our honeymoon, and we hope to return in summer.

The hosts were so kind, and the sauna was excellent, with a great view. The area around the hotel is beautiful and quiet. It’s a lovely place if you want to travel in style, with a building that’s been thoughtfully and carefully styled and renovated. Every detail feels considered.

We came from Singapore in October and had an incredible stay. The rooms were beautifully presented, the interiors were stylish, and the food and service were outstanding. Every detail exceeded expectations. It’s a world-class place, and I’d love to return.
