Alpenresidenz Chiemgau

We had no real contact with the owners, and the whole stay felt impersonal. The only information we got was in a picture frame in the apartment, and we weren’t even given a Kaiserwinkl map. The apartment was furnished without much care and wasn’t very clean. There were cobwebs, the toilet and shower hadn’t been cleaned properly, and we had to sweep the balcony before using it. The kitchen felt cramped for a longer stay, with just two hotplates and a microwave above the counter, leaving little room for a kettle and toaster. There weren’t many utensils either. We found one used sponge and one dish towel. The bathroom had just one shelf, and the shower drained so badly that we stood ankle-deep in water. The location itself was very nice and quiet, with mountain views and a great starting point for hikes.

The mold was the main problem. There was mold on our bathroom ceiling, and the skylights in my niece’s second-floor room were badly affected. Her husband has asthma and had trouble breathing, so they had to leave. The rooms also weren’t cleaned well, with lots of dust and dirty glasses. For the price, the place was in poor condition, including the kitchen cabinets shown in the pictures. The so-called private terrace is shared by all the guests. That didn’t bother us much, but it was annoying to have people constantly standing outside our terrace window. The mattresses were good and we slept well. The bay window seating area was nice and cozy.

Parking right in front of the building was convenient, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had a baby with us, which was no problem, and they even provided a hairdryer when we asked. The apartment was bright, clean, and had everything we could need. Check-in was easy, and we were offered an early arrival at 11:00 AM. We felt very comfortable and would love to return. We were already thinking about when we could come back for another little break before we’d even left. We spent five wonderfully relaxing days at the Alpine Residence in beautiful autumn weather, and the friendly welcome made us feel at home right away. The countryside is lovely for all the senses, and you can set off on beautiful hikes and bike rides right from the house.
