Hotel Zum Fahrturm

We stopped for a quick bite. The spot by the river has nice mountain views and plenty of parking, and the service was fast. The soup was tiny, and the goulash was about the size of a medium coffee. It tasted good, but felt too expensive for what you got. The Apfelstrudel was much the same, barely enough on the plate to make a dent.

After a month touring Croatia and plenty of places in between, we were on our way back to the UK. We'd eaten out every other night and had some superb meals, but this was the meal of the trip. My wife and I had several dishes we fancied. I chose venison with potato dumplings, red cabbage, pear, cranberry, and gravy. She had three pork medallions with croquettes, pepper sauce, and an excellent side salad. It was a lovely meal, a real treat, and great value. The staff were friendly, professional, and efficient. The cake display looked tempting, but I was full. Superb.

The staff made us feel welcome, and the room was clean with a beautiful view of the river Moselle. The restaurant was excellent, and breakfast was good quality. We'd certainly return.

A lovely spot to stop after a hike or bike ride on the region's beautiful trails. The restaurant has a great outdoor area right beside the Mosella river, with really good food, big portions, and very nice staff. They serve food all day, so you can get a snack or something more filling.
