The breakfast was actually quite nice, and the room was fine, with a comfortable bed, though a bit dated. But the hotel seems set up for business guests and isn’t very convenient for regular travelers. There was no reception for check-in or checkout, just a key box because of covid. Later they sent me a bill to pay by bank transfer, even though Booking.com already had my credit card details. I’d never had that happen before. I complained to Eifelkern about the bank transfer request. They replied that they had charged my credit card, even though I’d already paid by bank transfer. Fortunately, they reversed the charge quickly. Worse, they replied to my review here using my actual name, which I believe breaches German privacy law. Datenschutz! I deleted that review and wrote this one instead. Eifelkern, don’t use my name in your reply.

The breakfast was good, with a wide choice, and the staff were friendly. The business room had adequate equipment, but the bed squeaked a lot. The bathroom felt like a plastic enclosure and wasn’t very inviting, and the internet left a lot to be desired.

The rooms were clean, but for €111 a night this felt like poor value for a small room with no service. It was small, with a tiny window and hardly any daylight. The furnishings, atmosphere, and bathroom condition were okay, but still not worth that price. There was no staff at the hotel over the weekend. The parking garage gate was locked, and none of the keys on our room key ring worked. We hadn’t been sent the key box code, and the emergency number only answered on our second try. The elevators were out of service as well. The exit door was locked and guests had to unlock it themselves, which is unacceptable in a fire.
