Coming back from breakfast to a made bed and clean towels was a nice touch. The place was clean, and the staff were friendly.

The rooms were extremely tidy and clean, and the hosts were friendly and open to feedback. Schluchsee is in a fantastic location, but the breakfast didn’t meet our standards. We felt it was too expensive for what was offered.

We had a lovely six-night stay, and the price felt excellent for what we got. Breakfast was so generous that we didn’t want for anything, with a freshly cooked egg available to everyone on request and a superb choice of coffee from the machine. The hosts were very friendly. The terrace was small but did the job, and the little wooden house in the garden was a lovely place to relax. One downside was the noise during quiet hours. Some guests ignored them, and even after we asked them to be considerate, it took us a long time to get to sleep.

We felt completely at home, and I’m very grateful to the Henke family for that. Their warmth and know-how made a real difference, and the whole staff made me feel like the only guest. It’s a family-run place, and everyone was attentive and friendly. The hotel is cozy inside, with a beautiful, spacious room and terrace. The bed was super comfortable, with very good mattresses, and I found the cleanliness throughout the hotel outstanding. It’s peaceful, with greenery right outside and great hiking routes nearby. Schluchsee and the town center are about a 10-minute walk away. Breakfast was an extensive, delicious buffet with everything you could want. They made each guest’s egg fresh, and handled everything very well during the coronavirus pandemic. The Hochschwarzwald Card was a nice extra, with a range of nearby activities discounted or free. Local bus and train travel were included too, which was a real plus. I had a very relaxing stay and will definitely be back.
