Fontane Apartments

It's a nice place and somewhat kid friendly, but they wouldn't let us eat in the playground area beside the restaurant. There are lots of tables there, and hotel guests were eating there with their kids. It was really hard to explain to my toddler why we couldn't eat there while other people could.

(Update on 9th November) The hotel has now reimbursed us in full. It took a few months, but in the end they did what they had promised, so I’m changing my rating from 1 star to 3. (Initial review) What we booked didn’t match what we got. I was told the apartment was at the hotel by the beach, but the keys I received on arrival were for a place in the middle of a village, near a busy road. It wasn’t the stay I’d expected. The apartment also had a broken shower cabin and air conditioning that didn’t work. I raised this with reception the next day. The staff there were very nice, but couldn’t help and asked me to wait for the manager. I was told she’d arrive in a few hours, but when I came back, she still wasn’t there. After half a day of waiting, she finally arrived. She was polite and assured me I’d get a refund and hear from them. Two weeks later, I still had neither a refund nor any communication. It felt like an empty promise. Given the location information, the apartment’s condition, and the delay in following through, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Potential guests should be aware of what they might encounter.

Getting the car out of the parking spot was a problem because the machine accepted only a German bank card, no credit card or cash. On top of that, they made us leave the beach area at 9pm on a Friday, and the staff were very unfriendly about it. Dinner was hardly better: our food took 3 hours, the kitchen forgot our table, and there was no apology or remorse, just “happens some times.” The food was okay, but not worth the price. We’ve eaten much better for less elsewhere. Worst restaurant experience in all of Germany. I wish I could give it no stars. Don’t waste your time or money.

We only stopped for a quick bite and haven't stayed at the hotel yet, though we'd like to. If it's as good as our time at the Fontane Grill, it must be incredible. The burger was perfectly cooked and beautifully put together, and the staff were friendly. Unlike some upscale burgers drowned in fatty, oily, sugary sauces, this one had fresh sauces that tasted homemade and brought the beef, bacon, bread, and toppings together. Probably the best burger we’ve ever had.
