Seehotel Schorfheide

The easy walk to the lake made it simple for us to enjoy the natural beach, where reeds rustled as we waded through soft, warm mud into the water. You have to go a few hundred meters out before it’s deep enough to clear your feet, which seems like it could suit people who aren’t confident swimmers. Our apartment had a kitchen and small patio, and the other guests were friendly but kept quiet and to themselves. It was our first time at the Seehotel, and we loved every minute. I have mobility issues and don’t drive, so being close to the train station as well as the beautiful, clean lake Grimmnitz was a real plus. We’re already looking forward to coming back!

The location and service were great, and both the staff and owner were friendly and ready to help. Still, I enjoyed the weekend, but I wouldn’t return. The price felt far too high for what we got, which was more like camping with a private bathroom and lounge. We’d hoped to hire bikes, but one was too uncomfortable to use, another wouldn’t unlock because they couldn’t find a key, and two had flat tires with no pumps. We had to make other plans.

The staff were polite despite the language barriers, and the rooms were spacious, looking out over either the property or lake. The breakfast spread was amazing and worth the money. It’s right by the lake, so it seems perfect in summer, though we went in winter and loved it too. There’s a sauna near the lake, but it was fully booked when we were there. I’ll definitely come back for that.

The beds weren’t especially comfortable, and I can’t think of much else to criticize. We had a lake-facing room with a beautiful view and direct access to the water, in a really great location. The staff were very kind and breakfast was good. A few more vegetarian choices might be nice. For this price, I’d highly recommend it.
