The rate was attractive, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was adequate, and the location is great, with a view of the castle. But I didn’t realize when booking that this was a self-serve hotel. Nobody was there when we arrived, we had no number to call with questions, and there was no information about getting wi-fi. She also charged me an extra 5 euro for parking. Just know what you’re getting.

Everything is close by: you can walk to the two main castles and the lake, and it’s easy to get a bus to Fussen train station. Check-in was simple, with a lockbox code so we could arrive whenever suited us. It’s a nice, quiet hotel for visiting the area, our room was nice, and breakfast was good.

The mattress was terrible, and the rooms need renovating. The food, service, and staff, though, were excellent.

For Hohenschwangau, this is the most cost effective hotel. The room was newly furnished, cozy, and spotlessly clean. Parking on site is just 5 Euro a day.

A good, simple breakfast and a kind receptionist. There’s parking, and it’s perfectly placed for visiting the castles.
