The location is perfect for visiting the city, and it’s a cute hotel with welcoming staff and a good breakfast for €13. Parking is quite limited, so it can be a hassle. If you’re given a room in the charming outbuilding, be ready for lots of stairs since there’s no lift.

The service was very good, though some staff spoke little or no English. The rooms were large, attractive, and modern, with nice bathrooms. The hotel is close to the city centre and Schloss Schwerin, about a 5-10 minute walk. The tram passes right outside some rooms, but I only noticed a low rumble and it didn’t bother me. There’s no minibar or fridge in the room, though cold drinks are sold in the hallway. There’s also no air conditioning, which really affected this particular stay during Europe’s heat wave. I had a good experience and would have rated it four stars if not for the heat and the lack of AC and an in-room mini-fridge.

The castle is just a short walk away, and you can reach the old town on foot too. Guests can park cheaply in the courtyard. Inside, the rooms are spacious and the bathrooms clean. The lift works, breakfast is good, and the service is very accommodating.

We got a free upgrade to a very spacious room, with a sitting area, a large bathroom, and plenty of wardrobe space. Breakfast had a good selection. There’s parking on site, but spaces are limited and it costs €8 a day. The town centre and Schloss are both very convenient to reach.

Our room was quiet and looked out over the yard. We stayed two nights, and it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good, and downtown is an easy walk away.
