Hotel Mainchateau

We stopped for one night on our drive to Austria, and the bed was fantastic. The room was clean and had everything we needed, so I slept like a dream. Breakfast came with a lovely river view, plenty of buffet choices, and fantastic eggs made to order. The riverside location is beautiful, and there’s convenient parking nearby. We got a very friendly, helpful welcome at the front desk. There’s an Italian restaurant on the hotel site, though it isn’t part of the hotel. We instead had dinner at one of the restaurants in the historic city center, only a two minute walk away. Lovely service and breakfast, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The park and riverside were lovely for a walk in the evening or morning, and dinner was really nice. They offer local beers, and the homemade Tiramisu was the perfect finishing touch. Our large dog could stay with us, and bringing him into the restaurant while we ate wasn’t a problem. We only stayed one night, but we’ll be back. The room was nice, with a bathtub and a comfortable bed.

The church bells didn’t reach our room unless the window was open. We faced the river, and even if we had heard them, they’re part of the town and this location. Since I grew up in Seligenstadt, I already knew the location was great, within walking distance of the town square and several restaurants. Main Chateau’s family clearly loves what they do. The staff were amazing, professional, outgoing, friendly, welcoming, and hospitable. Our cozy room was very clean, with great bedding and a comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and delicious. If you visit this town and don’t stay here, you’re doing it wrong!

It’s a nice hotel right in the center of beautiful selingenstadt, with helpful, fast service and everything nice and clean. The beds are firm, while the pillows are the typical big, soft German kind. Fold one in half and it’s fine. Breakfast has lots of choice, from muesli to fried, boiled, or scrambled eggs. It’s an old style hotel, so there’s no airco in the room. You can park in front in the public paid spaces and get a hotel parkticket.
