Amedia Siegen, Trademark Collection By Wyndham

The breakfast was great, but I expected more from Trademark/Wyndham. The room looked especially worn, and quite a few other spots did too. People seemed to be staying in our hallway, with doors left open and a TV on all the time. It felt strange, and we should have been told about it. The reception staff weren’t friendly.

At 11 p.m. my key card stopped opening the room, and there was nobody at the desk. I called the emergency number and was told it would be fixed in 30 minutes, but nothing happened. I called again, and the same thing kept repeating until 3 a.m. Then they said another room might be available after 5 a.m. I gave up and went to another hotel to sleep for the four hours I had before work. Unbelievable. A hotel is supposed to give you somewhere to stay at night. Cards can fail, of course, but someone needs to be reachable to sort it out.

I hate giving the hotel a bad rating because of one employee, since the rest of the staff were great. But the woman on the afternoon reception shift on 13 April 2024 was definitely racist. She insulted me in various ways, and I felt completely uncomfortable. My room radiator wasn’t working, so I asked her to check it. She said she’d come up, but never did, and left the property without telling me anything. I stayed in a cold room. The night wasn’t terribly cold, but it was still uncomfortable. Breakfast was reasonable and I enjoyed it, and the bathroom shower was okay.

We paid about 100 euros a night and the whole experience felt cold, like staying in a random house where nobody cared whether guests were comfortable. In the morning there was suddenly no hot water, so we had to shower in freezing water. The receptionist just said sorry, without trying to improve things or asking if anyone needed help. I asked for a refund, but got no answer and was told to contact the head office in Berlin myself. I suggested the hotel contact them internally, since that wasn’t my job as a visitor, but that was ignored too. I’ve never had this kind of experience at any hotel I’ve visited. I come to Siegen for work and won’t risk staying here again, though reception was better on the first night before the water problem. The Concord in Siegen is a bit more run down, but its service and breakfast are more decent. Holiday Inn is also better.
