Hotel Restaurant Haus Gertrud

The lady who runs the house was very friendly, and we felt comfortable there. It’s more of a guesthouse with several rooms than a hotel. We stayed three nights with breakfast, and the breakfast was very good. Everything was clean, and the heating in both rooms worked well and warmed the rooms quickly. Our room was large, quiet, and had a balcony, though we found the mattress a little too soft. The tiny bathroom had been renovated and had ventilation, but no window. There’s a large parking lot, and we could keep our e-bikes in the garage and charge them there. We weren’t looking for luxury.

The hostess welcomed us so warmly and runs the hotel with real care and dedication. We felt comfortable right from the start. We’d booked three rooms for ourselves and our friends, and the phenomenal breakfast made us all very happy. We’ll definitely return!

Louise, the owner, is a sweetheart. The room was spacious, though the shower was narrow. The location worked really well for getting around quickly. It wasn’t crowded, but didn’t feel like we were in the middle of nowhere either.

I’m not usually very demanding, but on a 35°C night a fan should have been provided. The guests were left struggling through the night while the landlady sat in air-conditioned rooms. Saying “You can only help those who speak up” doesn’t solve that. It should be obvious that guests need help. Apparently the same problem happens in winter, when the heating doesn’t work. The guest should come first, and that didn’t happen here. Even if the lady does everything herself, I’m still paying for some comfort. It’s a shame, because with better service this could be worth five stars.
