Pension Haus Helene

The owner didn’t greet us very warmly when we arrived, just gave us a room number. The rooms were dirty, with wallpaper peeling off, cobwebs and spiders in the ceiling corners. The shower cubicle was mouldy, and some tiles at the bottom were broken. The TV didn’t work either. Breakfast was bland. The coffee was the only good part, and the bread rolls were stale. The owner seemed to lack enthusiasm in everything. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

Einruhr is peaceful, and there’s a lovely swimming pool in the lake. There are a few restaurants with good food, though some close at 9. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and breakfast was good. It’s a perfect base for a lovely walk.

For one night it was okay, though there’s plenty that could be improved. Our room was number 1, facing the hill. It was clean, with a big bed, an okay mattress, and nice warm blankets. Breakfast was standard German fare, with eggs, coffee, butter, buns, and so on. Some reviews call the place spooky or strange, which seems to come from the owners’ impersonal approach. They just give you the room number and floor. If you’re introverted, you might really like that. There was no hair dryer, fridge, water or glasses, or kettle in the room, only one on the floor table. The curtains were transparent rather than dark, and the place wasn’t wheelchair friendly. I probably wouldn’t stay again.

The beds were really comfortable, and breakfast was generous. The hotel is handy for the Wildnis Trail, though the building feels a little dated. We didn’t see the host again after checking in.
