Hotel am Klostersee

The room was quiet and clean, with a pleasant view of a small river, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom had been updated, which suited what I needed: a warm, tidy place to sleep and get ready for my next day at the congress. I skipped breakfast since I’d already eaten plenty there. I chose this hotel because it was the nearest and cheapest option to the Stadthalle, where I was attending a congress. The receptionist was a quick, funny guy who called to make sure I checked in on time. I was refreshed for the next day, and the stay was a pleasure.

The breakfast was good, and the bathroom had been renovated. My bedroom was spacious, and the carpet and bedding seemed clean. But the old headboard was downright disgusting, oily and marked with some strangers’ hair. The hotel is okay, nothing more. It’s old-fashioned, and I heard some rooms have been updated, but mine hadn’t apart from the bathroom. Service was barely average too. It felt like they’d heard too many complaints and would rather not talk to you. If price and location are your main concerns, it may still work.

Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including eggs, frankfurters, cheese, sausage, bread, rolls, cereal, yogurt, and juice. It’s filling enough that you won’t need lunch afterward. The hotel is very quiet, so you can get a good rest. The rooms are spacious, but they feel like they’ve been frozen in the 80ties. The place has that 80ties charm, though the bathrooms have been renovated.

The Wi-Fi was awful during all three of my stays, in different rooms. It often didn’t work, and when it did, it was so slow it was almost useless. The location is a good compromise, outside the city centre but still close enough to walk to restaurants and bars, with nature nearby too. Some rooms have balconies.
