Auberge Altringer

Lunch was good, but the room was awful. The fridge had mold, big parts of the bedsheets looked yellow, and the balcony couldn't be used. There was old grime everywhere, inside and out. Switching rooms wasn't an option either. As a pilgrim, it was really sad to be looking forward to a shower and a bed and find things like this.

The bed and shower were okay, and there was a small balcony facing the garden, though the furniture was old. We were touring by bike and got caught out in severe weather, so we were glad there was somewhere to stay for the night. Paying by debit card was easy, which isn't always possible in nearby villages. We were the only guests, so there wasn't any need to check in. The landlady handed us the key and we didn't see her again. It sounds like you can eat at the hotel, but hardly anyone seemed to. We picked up food from the nearby chip shop and supermarket. Breakfast the next morning was fine, though you have to get everything yourself from the fridge and so on. The place feels stuck in the 70s.

The restaurant food was good, and breakfast was adequate. The staff were very friendly, but the rooms are old and not clean, and the mattresses are worn out and need replacing. Even with the friendly service, we won't be coming back.

There's a stream behind the house and a comfortable outdoor seating area. It's well placed for trips to Luxembourg, and the home-cooked food is good. I was last there in 2015 and was really disappointed by how little care had been taken with cleanliness.
