The breakfast was amazing, with breads that had great texture and flavor, plus a huge choice of meats, cheeses, eggs, fruit, and teas. The cappuccino was a letdown, though, tasting like it came from an office coffee machine. I've rarely had a good hotel cappuccino, anyway. Everyone we met on staff was lovely, and I'd highly recommend the hotel. We stopped on the way to Italy because we needed somewhere that allowed dogs, and our two mongrels can be badly behaved. The hotel was wonderful with them. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the bed was good, and the shower had excellent pressure. We had a decent dinner in the restaurant. Around the corner there's a lively high street where my girls enjoyed walking.

We came into Basel by tram, which was very close by, and went to see the excellent Christmas markets. It was a short but lovely holiday. The hotel was great, the staff were friendly, and the breakfast was delicious with lots of choice.

We weren't hotel guests, but the staff kindly let us have coffee in the breakfast lounge. The price, though, was unreasonable: €16,80 for two small cappuccinos and two espressos. That's too much for a German restaurant. Glad we're on our way to Italy ;)

A historic, traditional hotel in an urban setting. The rooms were perfectly adequate, and the dining and breakfast were cozy and good. I'd recommend it for a stopover night.

The chef went out of his way to help when we arrived and found the hotel fully booked. We'd booked a room for one night on our way to Italy and had changed the booking, but the change clearly hadn't been handled. He called a few affordable hotels nearby until he found us another place for the night. Then he kindly invited us to breakfast at his own venue the next morning, which we gladly accepted. The room at the other hotel, Victoria, was fine, and the breakfast buffet at OTT's was delicious and well stocked. Thank you, Herr Andreas Ott, for the wonderful hospitality and service.
